Kendra Scott
MY ROLE: UI/UX Designer
My responsibilities for this project included wire-frame & user flow design,
visual design, interaction design, and prototyping.
Mobile application design
The motivation for designing this application was about turning mobile shopping into the joyful experience that real shopping can be in a high-end shop. The shopping experience should be fun! Being limited by the size of mobile screens, I had to think hard to make the UI simple, intuitive and visually appealing.
Some of the important aspects of the design are:
- choice of colors that correspond to the brand image and strengthen emotional feedback
- setting the style corresponding to the nature of the commercial offer: people should instantly understand if the app sells household goods, fresh vegetables, trendy clothes, or anything else
- visual hierarchy which makes the core zones of interaction instantly noticeable
- general harmony of perception which sets the feeling of aesthetic satisfaction supporting positive user experience.
APP ICON DESIGN
Kendra Scott is a very recognizable brand, so the logical choice was to use the brand logo for the app icon. The key advantage of using the logo as an icon – namely, it solidifies brand awareness. Because of this, I wanted to stay away from anything too literal and utilitarian, for example, a diamond or jewel icon. My only task here was to create some color variations of the same logo design.
INITIAL APP SKETCHES
Usually, my sketches can help me develop a concept relatively quickly, and because of the visual nature, it can help others “see what I'm thinking". Sketching provides a basic outline or concept that can be shared. I can hash out the user flow in sketches much faster than creating something on the computer.
